Is a permanent job the right move in 2023?

Is a permanent job the right move in 2023?
MARK SMITH: G'day Jess.

JESS: Hello, how are you?

MARK SMITH: I'm very well indeed. Now, you're joining us all the way from Adelaide, and we're going to be talking about securing or starting that permanent job opportunity this year. Now, I can see that we also have somebody on LinkedIn who wants to remain anonymous, saying hello from Adelaide.

JESS: Hello Adelaide!

MARK SMITH: So, let's talk about getting a permanent job. What are your recommendations?

JESS: So often, people are questioning why they should move from a temporary role to a permanent role. The top three reasons would be better work-life balance, professional development opportunities, and job stability and growth. In a permanent role, you have the safety of job stability and growth opportunities, including promotions and salary increases.

MARK SMITH: Interesting. I know that temporary and contract work has been appealing to a lot of people in the market. Have you seen that in Adelaide, where people are moving from a higher-paid contract role into a permanent position?

JESS: Yes, I have been interviewing quite a few candidates lately who are only wanting temporary positions because of the higher rate. People want to have a taste of different businesses and industries to see what works for them. However, there's a lot of risk that comes with that.

MARK SMITH: Absolutely. Now, I noticed there's been an increase in the number of job ads once again in South Australia. How is the market in South Australia right now?

JESS: It's booming. There are lots of job ads, and it's tough to find quality candidates because it's a candidate's market. We are in our lowest unemployment rate, so it's tough to find those quality candidates. But they are out there, and we do have them on our books.

MARK SMITH: Great to hear. If someone wants to get in touch with you, Jess, what's the best way to do that?

JESS: You can give me a call on 0883174803 or email me at jessica.bales@people2people.com.au. I'm also on LinkedIn, so you can connect with me there.

MARK SMITH: Fantastic. Always great to have you on B2B Live, Jess. Thanks for joining us.

JESS: Thanks. It's been a while. We'll see you again next time.

MARK SMITH: Absolutely. Thanks, Jess.
